What is PGIMER?

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research is an institution in Chandigarh for premier medical and research studies. It is a national level examination conducted by Chandigarh. Medical Courses (MD) at PGIMER

Medical courses are prefered for a duration of minimum three years. MBBS degree or an equivalent qualification which is recognised by the Medical Council of India is the minimum requirement for a candidate to take admission in MD courses at PGIMER. The subjects included in this course are:

Masters in Hospital Administration, Masters in Public health are the two MD courses which require a two-year duration to complete the course and the basic requirements remain the same as given above for both.

Master of Science(MS) at PGIMER

Master of Science is the next line offered at PGIMER institute. An MBBS degree or an equivalent course is the qualification needed for this post.

Master of Surgery

Doctor of Philosophy

Post M.D. Certificate Course

This is a one-year certificate course offered by PGIMER including the following subjects:

  2. Biotechnology
  3. Immunopathology
All are two-year courses but the eligibility criterion is different for all the three. MD in Pathology is mandatory for Cytopathology, MD in Medicine is needed for Biotechnology and MD in Pathology or MvSc is needed for Immunopathology.

What fees should be remitted to attend the exam?

The application fees for 2019 PGIMER for January and July sessions are:

Via SBI Bank Challan the candidate can remit their examination fees in the name of Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Or else for those candidates who have an account in SBI Bank can pay the fees through the i-collect service No.32222954695.

What all document should be uploaded?
  • A scanned photograph with a maximum size of 50Kb in JPEG format.
  • A scanned signature with a maximum size of 50Kb in JPEG format.
  • An internship certificate with a maximum size of 1Mb in a PDF format.
  • The category certificate with a maximum size of 1 Mb in a PDF format.
How to apply for PGIMER?
  • The first step of registering PGIMER is to register on the official PGIMER 2019 website in order to avail User ID and a Password. 
  • Using the generated User ID and Password the candidate has to login into the page and fill all the necessary information in the application form. 
  • Upload all required documents in the form.
  • It is advised to note the User ID and Password for future reference. 
  • If the form is submitted once then the candidate must also download and print the form. 
  • Finally, the candidate must pay the required amount via generated SBI Bank Challan.

PGIMER 2019 Examination Pattern

During the 2nd week of November 2018, PGIMER will conduct exam for January session and thereafter it will be followed by the July session during the 2nd week of May 2019.

English is the medium of examination for PGIMER 2019 and this year PGIMER is an offline pen and paper-based test.

Examination results and cut off marks

Examinations results will be published online 24 hours after the exam. By entering the roll number and date of birth any candidate can access their PGIMER exam results.

Every year candidates need to fa the challenge of cut off marks to pass in the postgraduate entrance examination. This is the minimum score to be obtained by the candidate to be considered for the process of counselling for admission to the MD/MS courses. Percentile s considered for PGIMER 2019 cut off.
