HAAD and DHA Professional Licenses and it’s Process

Although the employment numbers are high, Dubai does have a proper procedure to recruit a medical person from outside their country.

What is HAAD?

Health Authority of Abu Dhabi shortly called as HAAD is Official public healthcare department for social welfare. It is quite similar to DHA since both come under one roof. However, rules and regulations are slightly changed due to differences in the city lifestyle.

Those who want to work in Abu Dhabi as Nurse need to pass HAAD exam mandatorily along with the professional license. Once you are availed with a professional license, you are eligible to work anywhere in UAE since it is valid for the entire country.

There are certain criteria for applying for nurse job in Abu Dhabi

Below are the updated Qualification criteria for a nurse in Abu Dhabi.

• Bachelor degree in Nursing or equivalent 3 year learning of Nursing from
• An institution with Valid National License
• Basic Life Support Certification
• Associate degree Nurse with passing a national exam
• ACLS, PALS area specialty
• 2 years of clinical experience with post qualification in an appropriate setting

• HR head signed Certificate of employment

• Passport copy
• Passport size photo
• Basic Life Support certificate
• Sponsoring Facility Declaration form 
• CID/Security form (English pages only) 

Further Application process

• First Sign up at the data flow site.
• Complete the form for your suitable position
• Upload all your relevant documents required for this job.
• You will receive Data Flow number in your mail
• The verification process may take a long time from 30 days to even 90 days

Examination Process.

To attempt HAAD examination for your professional License, please find the process below.

1. Use the link https://www.haad.ae/haad/tabid/1382/Default.aspx 
2. Select ‘Examination’ under ‘E-Licensing’
3. Opt Exam Scheduling
4. Enter your application number which you received via email.
5. Now you can check the date, time and location
6. Click on the book button and you have to pay the required fee
7. Lastly, print exam ticket which you can show at the center.

Re-Examinations are allowed only 3 times. Failure in 3 times will lead to a wait time of 1 year for the next attempt.

What is DHA?

DHA is Dubai Healthcare Authority which is a government body to look after public health care.
Being a growing world-class city, Dubai is strict on employment rules. For an individual or for a business unit, one has to gain professional license to work in Dubai or for that matter in UAE. A professional licensed employer can employ a limited number of employees under him who must also have a professional license on their field.

The Dubai healthcare city makes it easier for doctors to set up their own clinic in the city by helping them for a permit and set up a healthcare practice within its range.

The city demands a professional license for a medical employee through Dubai Healthcare Authority (DHA) or via Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD). The procedure for professional license involves training, fees, exams, and approval from the health ministry. Doctor or nurses must have a specific permit rather than a generic one. Hence requester needs to request the specific roles in which he/she specialized. DHA also describe its law for Unani medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, Chinese medicine, homeopathy, naturopathic medicine, osteopathic medicine need to apply for specific part only rather than requesting a generic one.

1. Official Educational Transcripts
2. Recent experience based on DHA PQR criteria
3. Logbook of surgical specialties attempted for the last 2 year signed by the medical director of the hospital or authorized official from Healthcare Department.
4. Valid professional license for another country you worked in if any.
5. A valid good Standing certificate only 6-month-old.
6. Medical fitness test if the candidate older than 65 years of age
7. Copy of valid passport
8. Passport size photograph

Verification of your documents may take from 2 to 4 weeks. Primary Source Verification (PSV) will be done within 48 hours of payment made. Once the verification part is cleared, you will eligible for assessment. Below are the assessment pattern of DHA

Prometric Assessment : This is a practical exam and based on the Prometric assessment schedule.

Oral Assessment:- A interview round based on the DHA Assessment schedule

5 day after work, you have to submit your labor card and insurance. If everything went clear, you will receive your professional license within 2 working days.

Under DHA, you also have the option to upgrade your professional skill or change the professional license to another skill. Here are the general information about DHA upgrade professional license.

• Bachelor degree (If not already updated)
• Logbook of surgical specialties attempted for the last 2 year signed by the medical director of the hospital or authorized official from Healthcare Department.
• A valid good Standing certificate only 6-month-old.
• Copy of valid passport

If all the above documents are submitted, you are eligible for assessment round. There are few things to be noted for assessment.

For the oral exam, after selecting the date time and venue, payment should make with the next 2 hours, or else the exam on a preferred date will automatically be canceled.
Unlike oral exam, a validity of 3 months will be provided to Prometric exam after PSV evaluation
