What is GRE

This exam is owned and conducted by the Educational Testing Service, ETS, the same one that is responsible for conducting OET language test. The Requirements

The Exam
What makes GRE preferred is that unlike the other entrance exams, there are no specific GRE exam dates in India. By making an appointment with the closest GRE exam center, you can take it any time of the year.  If you don’t get it in the first attempt, no need to worry as you can attempt the GRE General Test once every 21 days up to 5 times in a year.
If you are worried about the validity of your exam scores, don’t be as the scores are valid for a period of 5 years. So, if you feel that you have not yet unleashed your full potential on the first attempt, you can just attempt it again.

The Syllabus
After all, this is what you should know before writing the exam once you apply for the GRE. This exam is conducted as both computer-based or paper & pencil based. By referring to the official website of ETS, you can check out if your preferred center offers the exam on either platform. The exam consists of a time duration of 3 hours & 45 minutes.
As mentioned above, the GRE Syllabus consists of three sections which are Verbal reasoning, Quantitative reasoning, and Analytical writing. In the verbal section, your ability to form the right conclusions from written materials, identify the relationship between concepts and words will be checked.

This includes sentence completions, analogies, comprehension questions and more. If you are taking the test the computerized test, you are expected to answer 30 questions within 30 minutes. Whereas on the paper version, there will be two segments, each 30 minutes long and has 38 questions each.
Quantitative reasoning deals with analyzing your mathematical skills. This includes arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. The objective is to use your logic to solve a variety of math problems. For the computer version, you’ll have to answer 28 questions within 45 minutes, whereas on the paper version you’ll have two 30-minute segments, with each segment having 30 questions.
In the Analytical Writing section, your task is to read a paragraph on a general topic and then write about that topic from what you have heard. You will have a time limit of 45 minutes for completing this procedure, therefore, make sure to include reasonable facts and key elements to complete this section well.

If the exam is taken on a computer, this part is completed via simple word processing software whereas, on the paper version, this segment is handwritten.
